Blessed Ignorance
I am, by no means, always correct in my thinking. Intellectual and pragmatic, I certainly hope so. The issue of the “War On Terror” continues to be a great discussion point across the web, on our televisions, and all other media outlets. My thoughts on the topic have evolved since 9/11. Over the next few weeks, I intend to post my most up to date thoughts on the subject. As I research through the history books, my theories evolve further.
I think a good place to start would be a few quotes from history’s most hated man.
“How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don’t think.” – Adolf Hitler
“All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.” – Adolf Hitler
Chew on those statements for a moment.
Fear is a very powerful motivation. It’s a feeling. Fear is the greatest propaganda tool. Hitler knew this and used it to accomplish his goals. Was it a false fear? Yes, a fear of Jews, Gypsies, Commies, and every other sort. He created that fear, knowing that the average citizen is too lazy to think and analyze a situation. Hitler knew that by standing up and explaining his goals of ruling all of Europe would not bring the masses behind his plans. This fear began with the burning of the Reichstag, which was blamed on Communists. This fear fed him power.
I am not suggesting there is a single person, similar to Hitler, behind the “War on Terror” and 9/11. No, I don’t believe that to be the case. I do however believe that the method of using fear to convince the lazy thinkers is just as logical today as it was then. I believe that if our Leaders stood up and explained the truth behind the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, 90% of Americans would fall asleep instead of falling in behind their Leadership. Trust me, my thoughts are not sexy, no conspiracies, no New World Order, nothing glamorous at all.
So stay tuned, there will be quite a few posts on this topic.

Bloomin’ at Lehigh
Training camp is a time of optimism and hype. Jeremy Bloom is at the center of it on the Philadelphia Eagles squad. Bloom was out of football for his final 2 years of college. Drafted by the Eagles in the 5th round of 2006 draft, he never saw the field. Stuck on injured reserve all season with various injuries attributed to his lack of football shape, Bloom studied and rebuilt his form. After running a 4.49 at the pre-draft combine, he is now hitting the clock in the 4.2’s. All hope was that Bloom would become a star Returner. Things are now changing. Bloom is getting a lot of reps as a receiver, and he is making the best of the opportunity. Hype it is, only time will tell.

WordPress
Blogger was getting on my nerves. It seems as if Google is not devoting significant development effort to it. I moved over to WordPress to compare the features. Integration with Flock is just a bit tighter with support for Categories. I am still checking out the features and move try a few other blog applications.

A Solution to the War in Iraq- Buy it on eBay for $100mil
This is awesome! I hope Larry King invites him on. Link below.
I am offering the winning bidder the solution to the war in Iraq. This is not a flippant or facetious offer. There will be no joke forwarded to you if you are the winning bidder. If you are the high bidder, I will send you a viable solution to the conflict in which we are currently engaged. I am a Military Intelligence officer in the United States Army with an extensive background in the Middle East. I speak the language and understand the culture, history, and religion, well enough to construct a fair, honorable, and successful plan. I have spent time in Iraq as an enlisted intelligence Soldier during Desert Storm in 1991 and as an intelligence officer during this latest action.

Why can’t we grow new body parts? (video)
A very pragmatic and inspiring presentation. Watching this was possibly the best 20 minutes I’ve spent all year. The presentation begins with the current state of healthcare and it’s near future. Alan Russell then goes on to discuss regenerative cell generation and the amazing things that will be possible with proper funding. I noticed some technology leaders in the audience, including Burt Rutan, the designer of SpaceShipOne.
Just Incredible! You must watch. ![]()
Alan Russell studies regenerative medicine — a breakthrough way of thinking about disease and injury by helping the body to rebuild itself. He shows how engineered tissue that “speaks the body’s language” has helped a man regrow his lost fingertip, how stem cells can rebuild damaged heart muscle, and how cell therapy can regenerate the skin of burned soldiers. This new, low-impact medicine comes just in time, Russell says — our aging population, with its steeply rising medical bills, will otherwise (and soon) cause a crisis in health care systems around the world. Some graphic medical imagery.

Apple Iphone is Telecom Bling — Reporters missed the real story — This is a Wireless story about Control of the wireless networks, cost of service, speed, and service restrictions
Before you buy an Apple iPhone, you should read the ‘fine print’ in AT&T’s wireless service contract. The first question every customer should ask is —Why did Apple, the standard for innovative techno-cool, partner with a telecom curmudgeon that has a penchant for not caring about their customers. AT&T’s “Data Connect Unlimited” wireless network used for the iPhone is slow, expensive and a downright restrictive network, not ‘unlimited” as the name implies. Most reporters have been praising Apple’s new phone. Yet it is clear that while the phone is the new wunderkind of industrial design and customer interface, the reporters missed the main issue — This is a wireless phone and broadband service, and an AT&T control issue — not a techno-toy issue. And the fine print and tricks of the wireless trade are downright offensive and need to be addressed.
Total Screw, why bother with the thing!

The Weird Things People Eat Around the World – Gadling
Half the fun of traveling is getting out and enjoying all sorts of foods you’re not used to eating. A simple trip to the corner market or grocery store in a foreign land can keep you amused for hours. Take the example above for instance: Cone Pizza! This picture was snapped in Seoul, South Korea, and you know what? It looks pretty damn tasty. Can I get one in the States yet? Anywho, check out some other weird foods from around the world, and be sure and share your own experiences in the comments!

Cone pizza’s look like a great idea. I’m always a fan for edible packaging. The rest of the stuff is, well, not too appetizing.

Update to the Blog Sidebar
I’ve added a few features to the Blog Sidebar:
- Twitter - It’s a mini-blogging tool. Very simple. It works with phones through SMS, but I’m using it my Flock browser. I’ll post little comments or URL’s as I browser the web. Get an account, it’s free.
- Ma.gnolia bookmarks. – Since I run on so many PC’s, I’m now posting my Bookmarks up to the web. The Ma.gnolia feed will show my latest bookmarks.
- Stumbleupon – When bored, I Stumble. The feed on the left will show you the latest Stumbles that I’ve found cool.

Rebirth Of An Old Laptop
I dusted off an old laptop thats been sitting on my shelf. A fresh install of XP and it’s back in working order. This machine is going to be used almost strictly for the web. I won’t be installing my typical apps on it, only web necessities. With that said, I’ll run down the list of what I have installed on this machine:
- Browsers and Mail
- IE by default, of course
- Firefox 2.0
- Flock 0.9
- Mozilla Thunderbird, connecting to my Gmail account
- Mozilla Sunbird, a calendar application
- Security and Maintenance
- CrapCleaner - deletes all of the excess junk that builds up
- AusLogics Disk Defrag – Windows Defrag sucks
- Spyware Doctor
- Adaware from LavaSoft
- Additional Software
- Yahoo Instant Messenger
- WebCam software
- Will be adding Trillian and a good text Editor
I was toying with doing a dual boot with Ubuntu Linux, but I think that may go against my goal here. I simply want a fast web browsing laptop. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep it that way.
