Indian cops go bananas over necklace thief | Oddly Enough | Reuters

Swallow the evidence!  40 bananas and it still hasn’t come out.  Next up, the rubber gloves.

KOLKATA, India (Reuters) – Indian police forced a thief to gobble down 40 bananas in a few hours, hoping they would force him to excrete a gold necklace he had snatched and swallowed.Sheikh Mohsin, 35, grabbed the 45,000-rupee (546 pounds) necklace from a woman in the eastern city of Kolkata on Friday and popped it into his mouth when police and local residents caught him.

Kevin Smith Owns a Heckler

He’s at Comicon, so the wierdo’s will come out. This is a great example of why geeks shouldn’t try to pimp.

Google Wants

Posting a suggestion to Google seems rather tough to do. I can’t find a product suggestion link at Google or in the Labs. One product I am surprised they have not developed is a document summarizer. I’ve used Copernic’s before, but I refuse to pay the $80 registration fee for personal use. Surfing the web, I often come across long documents and I want to just get the key the concepts out of the document. Copernic Summarizer does this task very well. Google already has the logic created, just no interface to use it. Identifying concepts of a document is part of Google’s algorithm. So I post the request here. I think it would be a great addition to Google Docs.

Eagles Fans Invade the Alamodome

Eagles fans, we are a rowdy bunch.

Props to VoodooChili over at the EMB.

ENEMIES IN THEIR MIDST: Six guys wearing Eagles jerseys, including a red No. 5 for Donovan McNabb, were loudly booed when they arrived. They responded with a chant of “E-A-G-L-E-S,” which was countered by repeated chants of “Eagles (Stink),” even after the group left.

Weird quotes & quotations

Quotes that remind me of how simple and natural life should be.

“Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.”

List of unusual deaths – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Death is inevitable. Personally, I’d like my death to be interesting at the least, if not amusing. Always trying to be different, yada yada yada… Wikipedia has a document of unusual deaths. Peruse, enjoy, and if you are like me, be envious. I hope to top them all in 60 years. I dunno, maybe I’ll poop myself, slip on it, and hit my head on the bathtub that my Playmate mistress is relaxing in.

If only I were so lucky…

458 BC: The Greek playwright Aeschylus was killed when an eagle dropped a live tortoise on him, mistaking his bald head for a stone.

Blessed Ignorance

I am, by no means, always correct in my thinking. Intellectual and pragmatic, I certainly hope so. The issue of the “War On Terror” continues to be a great discussion point across the web, on our televisions, and all other media outlets. My thoughts on the topic have evolved since 9/11. Over the next few weeks, I intend to post my most up to date thoughts on the subject. As I research through the history books, my theories evolve further.

I think a good place to start would be a few quotes from history’s most hated man.

“How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don’t think.” – Adolf Hitler

“All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.” – Adolf Hitler

Chew on those statements for a moment.

Fear is a very powerful motivation. It’s a feeling. Fear is the greatest propaganda tool. Hitler knew this and used it to accomplish his goals. Was it a false fear? Yes, a fear of Jews, Gypsies, Commies, and every other sort. He created that fear, knowing that the average citizen is too lazy to think and analyze a situation. Hitler knew that by standing up and explaining his goals of ruling all of Europe would not bring the masses behind his plans. This fear began with the burning of the Reichstag, which was blamed on Communists. This fear fed him power.

I am not suggesting there is a single person, similar to Hitler, behind the “War on Terror” and 9/11. No, I don’t believe that to be the case. I do however believe that the method of using fear to convince the lazy thinkers is just as logical today as it was then. I believe that if our Leaders stood up and explained the truth behind the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, 90% of Americans would fall asleep instead of falling in behind their Leadership. Trust me, my thoughts are not sexy, no conspiracies, no New World Order, nothing glamorous at all.

So stay tuned, there will be quite a few posts on this topic.

Bloomin’ at Lehigh

Training camp is a time of optimism and hype. Jeremy Bloom is at the center of it on the Philadelphia Eagles squad. Bloom was out of football for his final 2 years of college. Drafted by the Eagles in the 5th round of 2006 draft, he never saw the field. Stuck on injured reserve all season with various injuries attributed to his lack of football shape, Bloom studied and rebuilt his form. After running a 4.49 at the pre-draft combine, he is now hitting the clock in the 4.2’s. All hope was that Bloom would become a star Returner. Things are now changing. Bloom is getting a lot of reps as a receiver, and he is making the best of the opportunity. Hype it is, only time will tell.

WordPress

Blogger was getting on my nerves. It seems as if Google is not devoting significant development effort to it. I moved over to WordPress to compare the features. Integration with Flock is just a bit tighter with support for Categories. I am still checking out the features and move try a few other blog applications.
